Best free room I've ever had? There are many, but one that comes to mind is my family's six day stay, which I enjoyed at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo. Great, but no registry office. When we entered the hotel, the lift took us directly to our room on the 40th floor, where we walked through the elegant lobby and admired the magnificent view of Tokyo. Only after we were in our room the employee visited us. In about 2 minutes we signed the necessary paperwork - from the luxury and comfort of a desk in your own room.
Only the facilities made our stay unforgettable. The large bathroom greeted us with marble everywhere, while the large bathtub invited us to sit, soak and relax. Not only the best shampoos, conditioners and lotions available every day, but also new black hair brushes and nail brushes. We lay down in complimentary silk kimonos and put on thick robes after using the pool and spa - just a short lift ride to the 52nd floor amid breathtaking 360 degree views of Tokyo.
We paid absolutely nothing for this, not even room tax. But as we all know, there is no such thing as "free". In fact, it takes 21 paid nights at a Hyatt hotel to accumulate enough hotel points for a free five-day stay through a promotional offer.
But here's the bottom line: if you're earning Hotel Points or planning to take advantage of the Free Night promotion, make the most of their offer! Just as you would take advantage of a free night only at a hotel that might not be on your budget, buy your frequent flyer miles with the most expensive business or first class airline ticket.
Research consistently shows that nearly two-thirds of all miles purchased for frequent trips are spent on free bus travel within the United States or between the United States and Canada. These statistics surprise me. Because these prices typically cost 25,000 miles for frequent trips, travelers who trade them for domestic vacation trips – which airfare is very cheap in today's competitive travel market – get a low return on investment. Passengers can now travel to almost any domestic destination in bus class for less than $400 with pre-sale tickets. With low-cost airlines like America West now offering first-class cabins for less than $1,000 (and often in combination with major competing airlines) across the United States, even premium class is more affordable than ever. Wait until you've earned 100,000 to 200,000 miles and pick up a premium ticket or two overseas.

You could argue that you want to familiarize yourself with the miles you frequently travel quickly - before the airlines go out of business. Critics everywhere predict the demise of all the major airlines and with it the mileage program that travelers often understand, love - and hate! Many "tourism authorities" appear in newspapers and magazines, and "knowledgeable" radio and television experts continue to warn travelers to spend their miles quickly before they all become useless. How ridiculous....

With the exception of US Airways, which I believe will fade from the landscape in the next few months, the specialties remain for now - so keep on earning miles from frequent travelers and one day book your dream trip in the not too distant future. . Will airlines lose value in the future? Of course they will - and green money in your pocket and mutual fund accounts, but that doesn't stop you making money every day, does it? Get it real now - major airlines will need their frequent flyer programs for years to come, not only to communicate with their customers, but also to generate revenue for thousands of businesses (banks, mutual funds, restaurants, long distance). Telephone companies - how do you calculate routes?) that offer regular flights as a gift to their loyal customers. Your hotel points are even more secure, not least because the big hotel chains don't shed as much blood as the big airlines. So keep earning loyalty points from Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, and Starwood to enjoy the stay I described in the opening story.
